A Crooked Line -
on location

Being between group shows, I posted a selection of my works to date (Aug. 2021) made in direct response to nature or drawn "from life" at home. They are not "plein air paintings" per se, not completed outdoors at one time. These were at least sketched on location, then finished up in studio, from memory and/or photo reference. So, call them “plein-air ish”.

Often the background is changed or just one small element of what I sketch remains in the final frame; e.g. I sketched a young woman taking a selfie on Front Street, oblivious to all around; I moved her under the watching dinosaurs of the ROM in "Hour upon the stage."

In practising art, I am following rather a crooked line, to borrow from the Indigo Girls’ Closer to Fine.
